Issue #120: Rowing 3,000 Miles Across the Atlantic

Good morning. It’s Friday, February 3rd. Today we're talking about the limits of human potential. We're not suggesting you row across an ocean - but for all you athletes out there (that's all of you) join us for the St. Anthony's Triathlon

Swim with the dolphins in Tampa Bay. Bike through historic neighborhoods. Run along the waterfront to finish off your amazing achievement! This incredible race is in St. Pete, FL on April 30th.

Look - I'm not a natural triathlete. But just registering has gotten me out for more swims and faster running times. These events take us out of our comfort zone AND there's no better endorphin rush than crossing the finish line of a Tri with hundreds of fellow racers (supporters) cheering you on!

Whether you're signing up for your first sprint distance and plan to walk some of the run or you're a Tri veteran - let's go!

If you join the race with Thrive25:

  • Receive access to what I promise is the best 12-week Triathlon Training Plan out there (not just about swimming, biking, running)

  • Live Zoom Calls with all Thrive25 founders and athletes to talk training, what to expect, or anything related to health & longevity

  • Invite to a Thrive25-only complimentary dinner the night before the race

  • Special Thrive25 Welcome Kit

  • More perks and promotions to come as we get closer to Race Day

Use code "THRIVE25" when you register to get 10% off the entry fee to the race - and tell us you're in (team@thrive25.com).

One resolution I have made, and try always to keep, is this: ‘To rise above the little things’.

Inspiration

Can you imagine rowing (yep - just like you’re picturing in your head) 3,000 miles across the Atlantic?

In the middle of December, over 40 teams started off from a beach in the Canary Islands off Africa setting a course to Antigua in the Caribbean for the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge

The winning team of four Spaniards (Team OceanCats) landed first with a time of 31 days, 17 hours and 9 minutes

Just yesterday a trio of American Rowers (Team Guardian) landed in Antigua after 51 days at sea. This group of first responders is raising money for Guardian Initiatives - a nonprofit dedicated to First Responder Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention.

I can’t even begin to comprehend the mental and physical toughness to spend 1-2 months at sea. 20 foot waves, cracked hulls, and constantly burning 5,000 calories a day - doesn’t compute.

Absolutely incredible what the human body can do!

Friday Flex

After working those legs & glutes on Wednesday (see Workout), we're going deep with a modified pigeon stretch and then using a foam roller on our back. Don't worry - it won't hurt.
